As we close our advent calendar, let’s reflect on a transformative year for Angular in 2024. This year, Angular continued to push the boundaries of web development, introducing significant updates in versions 18 and 19 that have enriched the Angular ecosystem.
Angular 18: Enhancing Features and Integrating New Collaborations 🚀
Version 18 of Angular brought several enhancements that built on the functionalities introduced in previous versions. Key updates included further integration of signals, preparation for the anticipated zoneless mode, and significant improvements in Developer Experience (DX), such as fallbacks in ng-content and a new Observable in forms. These changes have streamlined the development process and enhanced the capabilities of Angular applications.
A major highlight this year was the collaboration between the Angular Team and the Wiz Team at Google. This initiative aims to merge the robust interactivity of Angular with the performance optimization features of Wiz, which powers high-traffic Google applications like Search and YouTube. This collaboration is expected to bring performance-critical enhancements to Angular, making it even more powerful for developing enterprise-level applications.
